The treatment works by using controlled pulses of light which penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the melanin in the hair. The heat is transferred to the hair follicle which is destroyed making it unable to produce a new hair. The treatment is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle. Thus a course of treatments is required to catch all of the hairs while in their growing (anagen) stage.
The Ellipse IPL treatment is unlike any other IPL treatment due to its patented ‘dual mode filtering’ system, which removes all unnecessary and potentially harmful wavelengths.
The Ellipse has pre-programmed treatment suggestions for different skin and hair types thus allowing the energy levels to be adjusted for the client’s individual needs. Unlike some other IPL systems, the Ellipse IPL can treat skin types I – VI, and is approved by the FDA for doing so.
